臺灣的蝴蝶種類近四百種。臺灣保育類昆蟲中，鱗翅目有5種，皆為外型美麗的大型蝴蝶，面臨了自然棲地消失的威脅。其中大紫蛺蝶、寬尾鳳蝶、珠光裳鳳蝶列入為瀕臨絕種保育類動物，而曙鳳蝶、黃裳鳳蝶則列入其他應予保育等級。
Taiwan is home to nearly 400 species of butterflies. Among the protected insects in Taiwan, five belong to the order Lepidoptera, all of which are large, visually striking butterflies threatened by habitat loss. Of these, Sasakia charonda formosana, Papilio maraho, and Troides magellanus (Magellan Birdwing) are classified as “Endangered Species”, while Atrophaneura horishana and Troides aeacus kaguya are classified as “Other Conservation-Deserving Wildlife” among protected species.

Among the protected insects in Taiwan, five belong to the order Lepidoptera, all of which are large, visually striking butterflies threatened by habitat loss.
